Remember last summer's incredibly popular Hundred Villages Basketball Tournament? 100 teams, 1,200 players, and 245 games brought everyone a fantastic basketball feast.

Highlights of last year's Baicun basketball game

After a year, the "Wellman Cup" 2025 Fuyang District's 7th Hundred Village Basketball Tournament is about to begin, boasting an even larger scale and more participating teams.

Reporters learned from the District Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports that this year, 112 teams and 1,344 players from 112 administrative villages across 21 townships (sub-districts) will participate, marking the largest number of participating teams in the Hundred Villages Tournament's history. Last year's top eight teams in the tournament, Lingqiao Village, Dongzhou Village, Zhongbu Village, Dazhang Village, Shanjian Village, Qiufeng Village, Shangcun Village, and Chengpu Village, have all registered to participate. The competition will run from July to September.

Fuyang basketball has a strong grassroots base, with each township (and street) hosting its own basketball leagues constantly.

Before this year's Hundred Village Tournament, three major tournaments were held, each packed with crowds and generating high enthusiasm. Fans rediscovered the joy of watching basketball in the summer evenings, and they were eagerly anticipating the Hundred Village Tournament.

The Second Dongzhou Subdistrict Basketball League

On June 6, in the 2025 "Jinghong Real Estate Cup" Dongzhou Street Second Basketball League finals, Minlian Village won the championship at home.   

Evergreen "Red and Green Basket" Basketball Invitational Tournament

On June 17, the final of the Changlv Town "Red and Green Basketball" Invitational Tournament was held, and Dazhang Village won the championship.

Jinpanju Fuyang Basketball League

On June 17, the 2025 Fuyang Jinpanju Decoration Third Basketball Invitational Tournament kicked off. In the opening game, the Fuyang All-Star Team and the Zhuji All-Star Team brought a strong showdown.

Nine competition venues confirmed

According to the schedule, the organizing committee of the Hundred Villages Tournament will hold a team leader meeting on the afternoon of June 29th, and the group draw will be conducted on-site.

Based on the previous venue applications from various townships (sub-districts), nine competition venues have been confirmed: Dadi Village, Jinzhu Village, and Guanqian Village in Yinhu Subdistrict; Minlian Village in Dongzhou Subdistrict; Xinguan Village in Dayuan Town; Dazhang Village in Changlv Town; Yuancun Village in Xindeng Town; and Shanjian Village and Chunjiang Village in Chunjiang Subdistrict. The venue for the quarterfinals will be the District Sports Center Gymnasium.

The opening ceremony of this year's Hundred Villages Basketball Tournament will be held at 7:00 PM on July 5th at the District Sports Center Gymnasium. In addition to highlight replays of previous Hundred Villages Tournaments, basketball shows, cheerleading exercises, and performances by Zhejiang's most popular cheerleading team, all 112 teams will make their collective debut.

Following the opening ceremony, the opening match of the Hundred Villages Tournament will take place. The specific matchups will be announced after the group draw.
